It all started with a desire for a fresh perspective on photography, craving a more authentic and genuine portrayal in pictures.

I've always been drawn to human interaction and the beauty that emerges from it.
My passion lies in preserving those moments and connections through photography, whether it's capturing school events, family portraits, maternity pictures,  senior pictures, or headshots.
I make it a point to truly get to know my subjects, forging a connection that shines through in the photographs.

" My sons pictures turned out beautifully!  You really captured his truest happy self" - PArent of a preschooler

In 2007, I made my way to the United States. I took on the role of Regional Systems Trainer for a relocation company, a position I held for almost ten years, and I loved it!.

Richmond has been our family's home for nearly 13 years now, and we've grown to love this city dearly. Both of our boys were born and raised here, and I'm truly thankful to be part of such a warm and caring community that makes our lives here so very special.

I love that my job allow us time to go to be in Brazil every summer. Seeing both of our kids embrace their bilingualism is particularly gratifying—it's a beautiful part of who they are.

My superpower? Making people feel totally comfortable and relaxed in my presence.
And you know what's really special? When kids open up their hearts to me. It means the world.

Growing up in Rio de Janeiro, I dreamt of becoming a diplomat. Although that path didn't unfold, I've been fortunate to live abroad several times. These experiences have greatly expanded my worldview and enhanced my ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

My Favorite Things

Indoor Plants — One of the changes we made in our home post-COVID. While it can sometimes feel like we're in a forest, I adore having all that greenery around us.

The Beach! I am a beach person, and there is something about the sand, the water, the breeze, that makes me happpy

Traveling has always been a passion of mine. I firmly believe that the more we explore the world, the more we realize the common threads that bind us together rather than the differences that set us apart. I find immense joy in sharing this love of exploration with our boys.

My Favorite Things

Family - Being separated from an extended family can be tough, but having a tight-knit little family of our own brings immense joy. We cherish every moment spent together, whether hiking, playing games, cooking, or simply enjoying each other's company.

My ground

Music has always held a special place in my life, especially Brazilian music. Currently, I'm knee-deep in a project involving my collection of around 500 inherited LPs. It's a work in progress, with lots of cleaning and organizing on the agenda. Looks like it'll keep me busy for the next few years!

Tania
Carvalho

Project Coordinator

Tania is always there on picture day, lending her support, coordinating, organizing, and providing direction whenever needed.

When she's not assisting me to ensure the kids are picture-perfect, she's busy juggling her two lovely daughters' schedules, actively participating in her church, staying fit through exercise, and enjoying leisurely strolls with her dog around the neighborhood.

FUN FACT - Tania's family's story began at a traffic light in São Paulo, where she met her husband in a classic tale of love at first sight.

Christina holds a master's degree in Photography and child development, boasting extensive experience working with children in diverse settings. She possesses a unique knack for fostering their authentic selves.

She's the one who will spend hours looking the countless images, meticulously selecting the best ones (even when they're all awesome).

FUN FACT - Our paths crossed at a coffee shop when our kids were little. Years later, we realized we shared a unique bond: both of us had undergone the same jaw surgery during our youth. She's the only other person I've met who shared that experience!

“Oh my goodness the photos Julia has done of our family (both at home and at school) are amazing. She hung in there with our very spunky kids and made our very hesitant little one totally comfortable by engaging in her favorite things with her.”
